Singer Kelly Clarkson has weighed into the Perez Hilton v Black Eyed Peas stoush, telling Canadian media that the person who punched Hilton will "get a lot of flowers".

Polo Molina, tour manager for the Black Eyed Peas has been charged after his alleged altercation with Perez Hilton outside a Toronto nightclub.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) issued a statement condemning Hilton's use of the word "faggot" against will.i.am.

We have... asked him to apologize for promoting this anti-gay slur... For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is, quote, 'The worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear,' is incredibly dangerous.

It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes."

Hilton shot back, saying that he was "saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation that, unfortunately, turned violent." He added that he hopes "people know how difficult it is to intellectualize a situation and think rationally when a thug disguised as a musician is screaming at your face and intimidating you. I am just very fortunate and grateful that nothing more serious happened to me."

John Mayer also weighed into the situation, with the pair exchanging barbs on Twitter.

Mayer:...Perez Hilton's video statement is so long that by the end of it his cut healed.

Hilton: That's real funny! Ha ha! And I'm sure you also think I 'deserved' to get hit!

Mayer: Not true. In fact I'd like to train you in Krav Maga. Then you'll have the situational awareness not to get in someone's face. I also want to train you in an old martial art called 'Never Call A Black Dude a F*ggot Jitsu'.

Hilton:Dude, I get it. I GET IT. But it's not f**king funny to me. Karma would be me losing my site and going bankrupt or what have u. Karma is NOT getting punched in the face!

Mayer: From the heart, what you experienced these last 24 hrs is a profound lack of control. You can't blog the world, my friend. It's like The Matrix. You live in the Perez Matrix. You wrote the program, you can fly. Then you leave the Matrix, and oh, what the hell, you're not gonna get it. You're a sweet guy though.

Hilton: I live in my own world. And in my world, I would never punch someone. And in my world, that's illegal! Also, in my world, if someone repeatedly talks s**t about me, I ignore them or TALK as much s**t back. But that's just me.

Mayer: Today, the fourth wall came crashing down. Mario, you are human. I call upon Twitter to be kind to you.

Hilton: I'm not human! I'm a monster! Good night, John Mayer.

Mayer: Good night Perez, you dumb s**t.

It all started with a post on gossip King Perez Hilton's Twitter account: "I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel Now. Please."

He followed this with a shocking claim about one of the biggest bands in the world: "I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

It appears that the pair encountered each other at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto where Perez presented and the Black Eyed Peas performed 'Boom Boom Pow.'

After the show Fergie apparently approached Perez to ask him about negative comments he had made about the band and their music on his website. The trouble started when will.i.am allegedly challenged Perez about his attitude towards both Fergie and the band.

Both say that Perez called will.i.am a "faggot."

What happened next seems a little unclear, but Perez Hilton claims that he was struck by Black Eyed Peas manager Liborio Molina. The Hollywood Reporter says that he has now been charged with assault.

Both Perez and will.i.am have posted videos telling their sides of the story. Their accounts appear to differ over a few details, including who actually hit Perez. Watch them below and have your say.

Seeing this, I would dedicate my life to not listen to any Black Eyed Peas song ever again. This really is unacceptable. I am a firm believer that everything can be settled without the use of violence. It clearly shows fame has gotten to Will I Am's head. They have only been given attention in the last couple of years but they should know not everyone would say nice things about them, about their music. If I were in their position, I would not mind Perez for any derogatory remarks he would spit out but they obviously are unprofessional. Seems they don't deserve the popularity they are having right now. God bless Perez for standing his ground.

Perez has, according to his blog, spent 5 years gossiping and saying things he concedes can be very hurtful to people.

Maybe not the right response but if I wrote about someones friend (Fergie) and called her a fugly b**** before slagging off their song, and then calling another band mate a f***** (nicely done by a gay rights activist!) I wouldhardly be surprised if they clocked me in the eye.

While Perez may not have deserved violence he should not be surprised - and he most certainly shouldn't be feeling self righteous and justified in being such a parasite.

Perez is an attention seeker! Its funny how he claims to have been so hurt and in such shock, but yet can twitter about it as it's happening. How dramatic!

I will not be looking at his website again. And im sure him calling Will.I.Am a Fagg*t will be forgotten.

Or him calling Fergie Fugly and meth face on his website.

He is the one who is a pathetic human, he can dish it out but can't take it.

He should have been slapped along time ago!

I agree that physical violence is never the answer, but apaprently Perez thinks verbal abuse and slander is okay........

Probably not the best time for Perez to take the moral high ground when he causes pain and suffering himself.
