Katy Perry is planning a trip to Mexico with her pal Rihanna to help get over her pending divorce.

The singers have been friends for a few years, RiRi even hosted Katy's hen party in Vegas. Now, she is a shoulder to cry on as Katy starts a new single life.

The latest on the Perry/ Brand situation is that there's no bad blood between them, and neither of them believes the other cheated.

But, the honeymoon period ended very quickly after they got married. They never spent long periods of time together because they were both working so much.  

And, they were known to fight constantly, in front of people at clubs and awards shows. Russell doesn't drink, and Katy likes to party. Rumour has it that he'd often insist on leaving parties early, asking her to go too...we've all been there!

So, as another one of our fav celeb couple bites the dust, we wish them well for 2012.

But, onwards and upwards. Who do you think they'll both date next?

As they say, where there's smoke there's fire and that was no different when it came to rumours of a break up between Katy Perry and Russell Brand, which he has confirmed today to the Associated Press.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," Brand said. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

Brand filed the divorce documents in LA, which cite “irreconcilable differences”.

The news comes after the couple were spotted seperately on Christmas and without wedding rings – Brand hanging out at pubs in Cornwall while Katy splashed around on the beach in Hawaii.

The pair were married in India 14 months ago after meeting at the VMAs in 2008. Brand proposed in India on New Year's Day 2009, basically 2 years to the day.

TMZ reports that they believe that while the couple have been unhappy, Katy didn't know the divorce papers were coming.

To be honest, this doesn't come to a shock for us – we kind of never figured this couple were in it for the long haul!
