Here are the tips - Thanks to Josh at Joggers World, Pirie St in the city.
Footwear: Choosing the right shoe can be overwhelming with the amount of choice but the answer is simple: shoes should be suitable for your foot type AND comfortable NOT necessarily the most expensive. The dearest have the most bells & whistles (support) is that much support necessary???
Socks: Lucky old socks aren't lucky they're just smelly and can kill a brown dog. The right socks eliminate blisters and excessive sweat this mission again should be in search of the comfort factor.
Clothing: The aim of what you wear should be to keep you as dry as possible, chaffing is very unattractive & unnecessary, painful and in some instances difficult to explain.
Skins: The best technical garment on the market in terms of performance and recovery. Not only to be worn during training and during the event, but sleeping in them afterwards reduces the pain/soreness factor. The Skins leggings/shorts have one unwritten rule: must be worn with running shorts over top Matt Shirvington has retired.
Nutrition & Hydration: Essential for an event like City Bay both before and afterwards. Proper carbohydrate loading prior to the event is necessary for optimum performance and decent hydration should begin 3 days before the event (camel loading).
Foot care: Foot pain is not necessary; rolling your feet over a bottle (beer/riesling not chardonnay) every night will alleviate soreness and help strengthen the feet. Scrunching a towel with toes is also very useful.
